We never need to underestimate the power of words. In fact in the book of James, it talks about the tongue. It says that the tongue can be like a rudder of a boat - it can direct someone. The tongue can also be like a poisonous animal - it can destroy someone. The tongue can also be like a fountain of water or a fruitful tree - it can delight someone.
Think about it. A judge in a courtroom says one or two words - "guilty" and it can condemn someone, or "not guilty" and one's life will be saved. A doctor can say few words - "cancer" and one is devastated or "not cancer" and one is elated. You dont have to say many words to impact someone's life. And that impact you have can be good or bad depending on the words you use.
In Colossians 4:6 it says "Let your speech be with grace, as if seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person." Salt is used to keep our food pure and free from corruption. In the Old Testament, Leviticus 2:13, God instructed the people to put salt on their offerings to keep them pure.
We need to always be mindful of our offering of words to the Lord. Do you think He finds your offering pleasing?
