15/15 Challenge: Day 12

Opening Prayer:

You've got the hang of this part now. Spend as much time in prayer as you need before getting started Remember to ask God to search your heart, take time to listen. Confess your sin to him and thank him for his forgiveness. Ask him to help you understand his Word and apply it to your life today.

Scripture:

Remember that you can read this scripture in your own Bible and underline parts that speak directly to you. If you do that or write them in a journal, you will be able to go back to them in the days to come.

Matthew 6:25-34

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Observation:

Think about what this scripture means. You may want to journal anything that comes to mind.Who is speaking? What do you learn about God?What do you learn about yourself?

Application:

Again, you are welcome to journal anything that God puts on your heart. How does this passage apply to your life right now? How will what you have read transform how you live today?

Prayer:

Do you realize that worry is a sin? Jesus commands us not to worry and yet so many of us do. He knows that when we worry we are putting all our trust in ourselves and not in him. Is there anything that you are worrying about? Are there any areas of your life that you need to release and let him take control? Pray through that right now.

Commit your day to him.
