We read a verse out of 1 John a few days ago that says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." God wants us to confess our sins to him, not for his benefit but for ours. This shows our dependance on him when we admit we have been wrong.
Take a few minutes to lay any unconfessed sin at his feet. Thank him for his forgiveness. Ask him to speak to you as you meditate on his Word.
Scripture:
Remember that you can read this scripture in your own Bible and underline parts that speak directly to you. If you do that or write them in a journal, you will be able to go back to them in the days to come. Some of this passage may be familiar to you - don't just read right over it. Really take the time to think on it.
John 3:16-21
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
Observation:
Think about what this scripture means. You may want to journal anything that comes to mind.
What do you learn about yourself?
Application:
Again, you are welcome to journal anything that God puts on your heart.
How does this passage apply to your life right now?
How will what you have read change how you live today?
Prayer:
Thank God for loving you so much that he would send his only Son to die for you. Take this time to talk with him about anything on your heart today. Commit your day to him.
