"You're Looking at a Christian!!"

Hey guys! What a blessed week it has been! If you have not heard by now, our oldest child, Joshua prayed and asked Jesus in his heart on Sunday night. He looked at his dad and me and said "I feel God talking to me and I am ready to ask Him in my heart!" We asked him lots of questions and he knew every answer and even more than we thought he knew. Then Daniel led him in the prayer and when he was done praying, he looked up with a huge smile on his face and said "I have a new heart!!!" Joshua then called his grandparents to share the news. He told them what he had done and now he was looking forward to showing everyone his picture. You see we have explained to him that baptism is like a picture you take on vacation. When you go on vacation, only a few people go with you. So, in order to share with others what you did on vacation you take pictures and come home and show them to everyone. The same is true with baptism. You ask Jesus in your heart and then baptism is the picture of that to show everyone else what you have already done!!

As a mom, I have been praying for this day! And more than anything I wanted to make sure he really understood the decision he was making. I would not say that I did not want him to make it, but I almost wanted him to wait a little while to make sure he was ready. I did not want him doing it because his daddy was a pastor, because we wanted him to, or for any other reason other than the fact that he was ready! I dont want him to ever look back and question anything about this special day. God knew that "fear" in my heart and answered my prayer. You see on Monday morning, after Joshua had gotten ready for school, he came in my room to see me. He said with a big smile "Hey mom!! You are looking at a christian!!" It was priceless. God confirmed in my heart from that statement that Joshua did know and understand, and he was passionate about his decision to follow Christ! He shared with everyone at the bus stop, his bus driver, his teacher, and his friends at school the decision he made. His boldness and passion lit a fire in my heart and made me want to tell everyone that I know "You are looking at a Christian!!"
