This Is The Day

This past weekend, my family and I enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July. We were fortunate enough to be able to borrow a golf cart from a friend and take the boys to the parade. That evening, we packed a picnic and went with Dusty and Amy Walker over to the Flat Creek Golf Course to enjoy the fireworks. While we waited for the fireworks to begin, the boys played Bocce with friends, we played Corn Hole (an amazing game) with Dusty and Amy, played football and frisbee, ate our picnic, and just enjoyed time together.

My family: Daniel, Joshua, & Caleb up front...Jackson and I in the back!

As the fireworks began, it was so wonderful to watch the faces of my children. Jackson, who is only 10 months old, saw fireworks for the first time. He was mesmerized by the colors that lit up the sky. Caleb, at 4, just sat in my lap and would yell "Green!" each time he saw a green one, because that was his favorite color. And Joshua, sitting by his friends, just thought it was the greatest thing he has ever seen in his whole life - all of 7 years. :) Times like that remind me of their innocence and their pure love of life. Everything is new and exciting. Whatever they are doing is the greatest thing they have ever done!

As believers, I think we need to have that same mind set about each day that God gives us. We should be thrilled to have another day to serve Him, another day to worship Him, another day to tell someone else about Him. Wont you live today like it is the greatest day of your whole life?

"Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning." Lamentations 3:22-23

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
